"Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy."

Winners!!! Winners!!!

First, I changed my mind about the new Blogger post editor, I like it and it has many positive improvements and features especially related to image uploads. I already had the opportunity to use this uploader on my sky-watching blog last year. The only drawback is that I cannot edit the photo sizes using HTML.

And now for the WINNERS of the ATC print sets giveaway. The winners were unknowingly picked by my fellow analyst at work by giving me two random numbers. I printed the comment section of the original giveaway post and assigned numbers to each comment (excluding mine, of course!). Oh, I previously asked my brother-in-law, who is also a fellow analyst but had to negate his choices. True to form, like his brother, he gave me 1.5 and 3.75. Ugh!!! Then he argued that I was not specific enough, I should have specified whether I wanted whole, prime, fractions, odd, even, rational, irrational... Sigh***

Congratulations to the beautiful Lakhsmita Indira of Illustration Poetry for winning these ATC-sized prints of oak leaves. These prints were part of the "Blemished" and "Autumn Leaves" series. They are printed on 2.5"x3.5" Sommerset velvet archival paper.

Congratulations to Steve! Steveroni my favorite "Peep"-eroni, concert violinist and poet, who always leaves me kind comments and goodwill. Steve will receive a set of archival black and acorn prints also on Sommerset velvet paper.

Congratulations to the winners and thank you for participating. I will have more give-aways of original and prints as I blog along.

Be safe.
Merry Christmas!!!

  7. OMG! Ces, this is SO unexpected. Truly, I'm almost (ALMOST!) embarrassed to be a winner.

I'm thinking back...did I stuff the ballot box? If that's the case, OH! HOW HAPPY I AM--grin!!!! If pure chance, this is the finish to a really REEEELY great year for me.

ATC! Does that mean I now trade something, illustrated cards?--grin!

Ces I am just so thrilled. Thanks to you (again) for so many favors.

  8. I wonder if there's still room in these comments...Your friend (and mine too, by association!), beautiful Mita, has used up all my 'spaces'--and I need LOTS of space, ya know? Yep, you know!

You are BY FAR my favorite "Blog-Peep"! Not because of the gifting and give-aways (they ARE a part, though!). Because you share so freely your talents with the whole world. You are (for me) 'Beethoven' of the Art World. And....you can
    W R I T E !!!!!

And whether you know it or not, God has allowed (assigned?) you as 'teacher' to so many. Family, patients in triage, fellow workers, and in these blogs, literally--the whole world!

Enough praising for you, a "simple human being" Hmmmmm! Or "simple human doing" might be more to the point.

I got up early, knowing this was to be a very special day...but not knowing why. Now, going on bike to meeting, see what MY assignment is for this day. They told me, "One foot in front of the other--and don't trip over your own foot!"

OHHHH! THANK YOU! (It's just now 'setting in', what I have coming..."it's in the mail!
Yes, me too, I join Mita and send

  10. Hey Darling!! Just dropped in to say how much I have enjoyed your blog and your friendship this year! It's been tough for both of us, but we have gotten through it. I wish you all the love and joy and happiness that your heart can muster. I think of you often even when I am not able to blog. It's been super busy this year with deaths, relocations, falls, spills and more.
Sending you the biggest and sweetest hug I can muster.
Tsup, Tsup, Tsup and more Tsup to you darling!

  12. Here I sit so happy, smiling (no grinning) and staring at my ATCs-on-line. And I am reading the news about horrible floods in Philippines.

With every spoonful of happiness, is a dose of tragedy and sadness inevitable? Oh! How I really feel deep down the devastation, the smell of death in the air, everywhere.

How do they EVER rebuild? This is where a strong faith is a welcome gift--for them, for us, for all.

How can we help, Ces? Could I sell my 'winning' acorn collection to the highest bidder--through your blog? For a starting relief fund?

(PLEASE tell me, "No Steve. You CANNOT sell your 'giveaway' cards!")

This settles it--I AM going to mass tomorrow, and pray for these Peeps, and for others, esp starving children--Africa-Peeps.

  13. Thank you for letting me know about the flood. It is very rare in December to hav a flood because the typhoon season is almost over. Even this track is rare. There are very few and rare typhoons in Mindanao. Floods, typhoons and devastation are staple in the Philippines., unfortunately. So much destruction. So sad. Filipinos are resilient. They may be poor but they are resilient.
